How Solidarjetà can help you with rental and legal disputes with your landlord in Malta.

What is Solidarjetà?

Solidarjetà is a trade union, not a government body. It’s an independent, member-run organisation that represents both workers and tenants in Malta.

Solidarjetà calls itself as a Maltese non-partisan trade union that aims to end the exploitation of workers and tenants by organising and uniting people regardless of gender, race, religion, class, age, disability, and other characteristics. It is a registered trade union (registration number RTU 326) based at 67 Strait Street, Valletta.

What it does: Solidarjetà campaigns collectively for changes to the law on issues such as ARMS (utility) bills and deposits. It also helps individual tenants with common problems, such as getting back deposits a landlord has unjustifiably kept and preventing illegal evictions. Members can upload their rental contract, and an expert will check it for clauses that break the law. The union also offers help with submitting disputes and has a “know your rights” section for tenants.
